Terms of Use
Last updated: September 2026
Sapient is testnet-only software under active development. Do not use it to hold, send, or receive anything of real value. Nothing here is investment, financial, or legal advice.
Self-custody means self-responsibility
Sapient generates and holds your recovery phrase and keys entirely on your own device. That means you are solely responsible for your recovery phrase, your password, and any funds associated with your account. There is no account-recovery process we can run on your behalf — if you lose your recovery phrase and forget your password, nothing described below or anywhere else in this project can get your funds back.
No warranty
Sapient is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including
without limitation the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and
non-infringement. It is experimental, testnet-stage software that has not been independently
security-audited beyond the self-conducted review notes in this project's own
SECURITY_AUDIT.md. Use it at your own risk.
No liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the authors and contributors of Sapient will not be liable for any claim, damages, or other liability, whether in an action of contract, tort, or otherwise, arising from, out of, or in connection with the software or the use or other dealings in it — including, without limitation, loss of funds, loss of data, or loss arising from a bug, a dependency's behavior, or the underlying Tari Ootle network itself (which is not operated by us).
Third-party networks and sites
Sapient connects directly to the Tari Ootle network and, at your direction, to third-party web pages ("dApps") and wallet daemons. We do not operate the Ootle network, and we do not control, endorse, or take responsibility for any third-party site or daemon you choose to connect to. Approving a connection, a transaction, or a signing request is your decision each time — review what you're approving before you approve it.
License
Sapient's source code is available under the PolyForm Noncommercial 1.0.0 license — free to use, modify, and share for noncommercial purposes. It is source-available, not OSI-approved open source, since that license does not permit commercial use.
Changes
These terms may be updated as the project develops; the "Last updated" date above will reflect any change. Continuing to use Sapient after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
